CAREER FIREFIGHTER

Currently the department is not accepting applications for fire fighting positions.  Future openings will be advertised in local papers, through this website, and through the website of the Connecticut State Fire Academy.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid Connecticut Driver's License

CT Certified Firefighter I

Current CT EMT certification

 Be a non-smoker

Current CPAT card (Candidate Physical Ability Test) issued  within the previous year.  It is the candidate’s responsibility to arrange for the CPAT with the Connecticut Fire Academy. An application for CPAT may be downloaded at www.ct.gov/cfpc  or by following the following link:

CPAT Flyer and Application  Potential firefighters are encouraged to keep current on their CPAT test status.

SELECTION PROCESS:  Selection is made by a combination of a written examination and ranked oral interviews.  The candidate being considered for appointment shall pass a complete post-offer, pre-employment medical examination, including drug screening.

VOLUNTEER INCENTIVE: One (1) point will be added to the overall final score for each quarter in which members of the Poquonnock Bridge Volunteer Fire Company made the “call list” over the previous eight quarters.
