Present: President Alan Ackley, Clerk Monica Knaff, Treasurer Thomas Santacroce, Chief Todd Paige, Deputy Chief Russell Shaw, Fire Marshal Michael Richards and Administrative Assistant Jamie Muhlack

Absent: Vice President Peter Legnos and Director Tammy de la Cruz

Alan Ackley opened the meeting at 7:07 p.m. The clerk announced the call to order with the time, date and place. Roll call was taken to establish a quorum. A moment of silence and a pledge to the flag followed.

MOTION: It was MOVED, SECONDED and CARRIED to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of May 12^th and the special minutes of May 24, 2005.

Vice President Peter Legnos arrived at 7:16 p.m.

Reports and Communications

Chief Todd Paige’s report was accepted for record.

A discussion concerning firefighter Peter Johnson’s request to meet with the board followed.

Fire Marshal Richards’ report was accepted for record.

The fire marshal reported that Todd Williamson & Bryan Quilter are doing a great job with lots of enthusiasm towards public education. The fire marshal commented that they are interested in every aspect of the fire department such as: the seatbelt safety program, the seniors, school presentations, the smoke trailer and etc. Peter Legnos suggested that the department do news releases concerning all of these activities with The Day, the Groton News and the radio stations.

Administrative Assistant Jamie Muhlack’s report was accepted for record.

Unfinished Business:

The president stated he and Attorney Carberry discussed the Conseco policy at the annual meeting and that a conclusion should be reached soon.

New Business:

MOTION: It was MOVED, SECONDED and CARRIED to give TCORS permission to publish the Poquonnock Bridge Fire District name and website on www.TCORS.com.

Tom Santacroce asked about the flag pole out front of the fire station.

A letter from TCORS concerning the eligibility of District Firefighter to serve on the Poquonnock Bridge Fire District Board of Directors was discussed. Firefighter Joe Baril received a copy of this decision because he was elected at the annual meeting.

MOTION: Monica Knaff moved, seconded by Peter Legnos and passed unanimously to hold a special meeting of the district voters on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 7:00pm at the Poquonnock Bridge Fire House, 13 Fort Hill Road, Groton, CT. The purpose of this meeting is to elect a Director at Large.

Good of the Department

The fire marshal suggested that the district send Tammy de la Cruz a letter of appreciation.

Presentation and payment of bills:

Tom Santacroce presented the bills to be paid in the month of June in the amount of $105,068.18.

MOTION: It was moved to accept the figure of $105,068.18 for the bills to be paid in June by Peter Legnos, seconded by Monica Knaff and passed unanimously.

MOTION: At 8:01pm it was MOVED, SECONDED AND CARRIED to adjourn.
